This Illinois-Based Concealed Carry License (CCL) Training Course is a 16-hour program required by the Illinois State Police (ISP) for individuals who wish to apply for a concealed carry permit in the state of Illinois. This course is divided into two parts:
- Part 1 (8 hours): Covers firearm safety, basic principles of marksmanship, care and cleaning of firearms, and all applicable state and federal laws relating to ownership, storage, transportation, and use of firearms.
- Part 2 (8 hours): Focuses on the legal use of force, conflict resolution, and includes the live-fire qualification component, where students must demonstrate safe handling and accuracy with a firearm.
Upon successful completion, participants receive a certificate of completion that is required as part of the CCL application process. Some applicants may be eligible for prior training credit (such as military service or previous firearm courses), which can reduce the total required training hours. All instruction is provided by a state-approved concealed carry instructor, and students must pass both written and practical assessments to qualify.
